Joyful Dog Training is owned and operated by Joy Thompson. Joy has been training dogs for more than 20 years. She is a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers and attends conferences and seminars to stay current in the field of pet dog training.

Agility, Obedience, Rally, and Canine Musical Freestyle are areas in which she enjoys competing with her dogs.

As a registered Pet Partners® team, she and Clancy enjoy visiting clients and performing animal assisted activities. One of Clancy’s favorite activities is listening to children read to him as a Reading Education Assistance Dog®.

Joy also enjoys participating in and organizing noncompetitive events for people to have fun with their dogs. Friday Night with Fido has evolved from that.

Joy and her husband, Dave, share their home with two cats from WAIF and two adopted dogs. Molly is a mixed breed, and Clancy is an Australian Shepherd. Both dogs love doing anything involving the clicker. They also enjoy running and playing in Whidbey Island’s off leash parks.

Joyful Dog Training is located on the north shore of Penn Cove about half way between Oak Harbor and Coupeville on beautiful Whidbey Island.
